V. International Conference - Teaching South Slavic Languages and Literatures in Contemporary Europe

Recently, Masaryk University, in cooperation with the Czech Association of Slavists and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Prague, organised the fifth international conference titled Teaching South Slavic Languages and Literatures in Contemporary Europe.

With a truly international participation of diplomats, professors, lecturers and students, the conference's main aim was to provide the space for sharing theoretical and practical knowledge of, and experience in South Slavic languages and literature education. This assembly is organized annually with a regular attendance of lecturers and teachers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia and others.

Mgr. Elena Krejčová, Ph.D., the chief coordinator, comments that one of the conference's highest achievements is the prevailing support of all South Slavic ambassadors who repeatedly attend the opening ceremony in person. Significantly, this conference is the first and so far the only one in Central Europe that is focused exclusively on teaching South Slavic languages and literatures. Simultaneously, the conference is the proof of Masaryk University's active interest in international cooperation.

Dance group Pirin, which specialises in performing Bulgarian folk dances, was also an official part of the schedule.
